THE HEROIN HILTON

Outdoor installation of work in Eureka, CA. December, 2019. Oil on plywood.

This series of paintings were inspired by the activities I have seen taking place at this building over the years.
The building was referred to by locals as the "Heroin Hilton" because of all the drug activity that took
place there. The building was condemned by the city of Eureka, and had been boarded up for several years.
My paintings were an attempt to re-create the tawdry past of this building and the
people who frequented it. The works were taken down the first evening of the installation
and are still missing.
